Holts Summit gets library to go

HOLTS SUMMIT, Mo. - No more waiting for books.

Holts Summit City Hall, 213 S. Summit Drive, is now home to the newest branch of the Daniel Boone Regional Library's Library-To-Go program.

Patrons now will be able to make use of a locker system to pick up requested materials. There also is an outdoor drive-up book drop in one of the drive-through lanes for library returns.

Mitzi St. John, director of community relations for DBRL, said the decision to install a Library-To-Go in Holts Summit was based primarily on the popularity of the bi-monthly bookmobile stop there.

"(Holts Summit is) our most heavily-used bookmobile stop," St. John said. "By putting lockers in Holts Summit, we are hoping to make using the library more convenient.

"I'm glad people are going to be able to have greater access to the materials available through the Daniel Boone library system."

DBRL Director Melissa Carr echoed that reasoning in a press release, adding that "we've used the locker system successfully in Hallsville, and we think it will work equally well here."

St. John said Tuesday Holts Summit patrons can request books, CDs and DVDs through the online catalog available through the library website, www.dbrl.org, or by phone to one of the DBRL branches. Deliveries will be made daily, with the lockers - which are accesible by using a library card - available from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8-10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The popular bookmobile will continue to visit Holts Summit 1:30-7 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at Holts Summit Plaza.
