Slight tremor shakes eastern Missouri town

BONNE TERRE (AP) - A small earthquake has left some people a little shaken in eastern Missouri.

The Daily Journal in Park Hills reports the magnitude-2.6 tremor occurred Monday at 7:22 a.m. The U.S. Geological Survey says the epicenter was five miles northeast of Bonne Terre in St. Francois County.

No injuries or property damage were reported in Bonne Terre or surrounding areas where the quake was also felt.

The tremor was just slightly stronger than the magnitude at which earthquakes can generally be felt.

Bonne Terre is located about 50 miles southwest of St. Louis.
