Area woman gets shock time for Walmart theft

A Mokane woman pleaded guilty to trying to steal more than 150 items from a Walmart in Jefferson City in June and was sentenced to 120 days of shock detention.

Court records show Jessica Harris, 26, has a lengthy criminal history involving multiple stealing arrests and drug violations. She pleaded guilty to one count of felony stealing in this case.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement stated Harris was walking out of the Walmart on Supercenter Drive, pushing a cart full of items out a closed fire door and onto the parking lot.

This set an alarm off in the store.

Harris had paid for three bottles of Pepsi and a bottle of water, but allegedly failed to pay for 156 other items.

The total value of the items was more than $1,450.

Harris told police she thought her boyfriend had paid for the merchandise.
