SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) -- Forecasters have issued a winter weather advisory for a large swath of southern Missouri and extreme southeast Kansas.
The National Weather Service says that more than two dozen Missouri counties and one Kansas county could see a mixture of snow, sleet and freezing rain before the advisory expires late Monday afternoon. The area affected is generally south of a line stretching from the Kansas town of Columbus to the Missouri communities of Osage Beach and Rolla.
Meteorologists say accumulations will be minor, with a light dusting of snow and sleet expected. Drivers are urged to watch out for slick spots, especially on bridges and overpasses. As of mid-morning, numerous slide-offs and accidents had been reported, particularly across far western and southwestern Missouri.
