BizBeat: Chick-fil-A sets grand opening
Sunday, November 24, 2013
The building is up, the windows are in, and now, the date has been set. Chick-fil-A will be hosting its grand opening in Jefferson City on Jan. 16, project manager David Whiting from W.H. Bass said last week.
“We’ve got a lot of work to do between now and then,” he noted.
The brick building, located in the parking lot of Lowe’s on Missouri Boulevard, will feature two drive-thru lanes, and an indoor playground. It will be the prototypical Chick-fil-A design, Whiting said. In the coming weeks, Whiting said crews will be completing the masonry, landscaping, and trash enclosure. They will also put the finishing touches on the inside, preparing it for furniture and decor.
“Chick-fil-A is looking forward to establishing its presence,” the project manager said. Whiting travels the country overseeing Chick-fil-A builds. He said this project has, like most construction projects, had its share of hiccups. “But we got the parking lot paved before winter, so we’re in good shape,” he said.
Once the building is complete, Jefferson Citians can prepare for a grand opening. The national fast food chain hosts a “First 100” contest where participants who comply with the official rules will receive one free Chick-fil-A meal per week for a year. The contest involves a 24-hour parking lot campout and could prove a chilly grand opening event in the dead of winter.
