Locals wrestle at UCM Open

The Central Missouri wrestling team had strong showings from a pair of local athletes at the annual UCM Open on Sunday.

Ty Loethen of Helias earned a second-place finish in the 165-pound division, while Hunter Neighbors of Jefferson City reached the quarterfinals before falling in the next two matches to finish 2-2 in the 133-pound division.

Loethen finished 3-1 on the day after losing to third-ranked Chris Watson of Central Oklahoma 3-0 in the finals. He picked up a fall in 25 seconds in his first match of the day and beat Patrick Whitener of Missouri 7-1 in the quarterfinals.
