Council for Drug Free Youth, mall to stage program

The Council for Drug Free Youth, (CDFY) a United Way agency, is partnering with Capital Mall for the TEAM Challenge activities for Mid-Missouri eighth-grade students.

Capital Mall will donate space to CDFY to hold Challenge activities during the year.

TEAM Challenge is a program developed by the National Guard-Counter Drug Task Force as a youth-oriented initiative for substance abuse prevention, leadership and team-building skills. The program is available to more than 1,000 area eighth-graders annually.

Students learn the three C's of critical thinking, communication and collaboration. They learn to work together to solve challenging activities that require intellectual and physical skills.

TEAM takes youth through hands on exercises instilling the importance of not bullying others and the value of diversity, and providing students with insight into the consequences of prescription drugs, heroin and methamphetamine.
