With the temperatures falling and leaves dropping from trees, Monticello Men's Chorus and Liberte Women's Chorus are performing a concert to welcome winter and the holidays.

"Winter Song" is based on an Ivy League glee club classic that personifies the coming season.

Each group is composed of singers from the Mid-Missouri area, including Columbia and Lake of the Ozarks. Singers range from young professionals to retired railroaders, an engineer, doctors and teachers.

Cindy McClain and Carol Beach direct the groups.

McClain is known for her mixed and men's choral ensembles as director of choral activities at Westminster College.

Beach is well known for her singing, conducting and participation in theater musical productions.

McClain, a virtuoso pianist, will accompany the women's choir and will appear with Monticello accompanist Bill Lehman in a dual piano novelty piece.

Both groups enjoy a cappella singing, and there are several a cappella numbers in this concert. One is a signature piece for the group, "Vive L'Amour."

The concert will also feature hand bell ringers and two string players from the Jefferson City Symphony Orchestra.
