Opinion: A positive note

Veterans Day events in our community are the topic of this acknowledgement from the mother of a Navy corpsman.

From Jan Miller, Hartville, Ohio.

Dear Editor:

To the good citizens of Jefferson City

Thank you for all of your hard work in recognizing Tyler Huffman, David Castillo and my son Jesse Miller during the community veteran's ceremonies.

Your warmth and gratitude overwhelmed our family.

Please know that your community is special. Your genuine sense of caring and giving is refreshing and we appreciated it so very much.

Please know that I realize the events that took place Nov. 7 and throughout the weekend were a group effort and I wish I could name all of you because you deserve to be recognized.

But please allow me to thank those who we met personally. I would like to thank Chris Jarboe who invited our family to Jefferson City and gave us the opportunity to meet Mr. Beamer; Sharon Naught who made all of the arrangements and kept in diligent contact with me; Darren "Bear" and Rene Reuter for all of your hours of work and for entertaining the Castillos and the Millers: Tyler Huffman for being so generous and welcoming; Neil Smith for driving us and giving us history on Jefferson City; Don Hentges for your time and kind words: Carolyn Loethen, Sen. Kehoe's right hand person, for taking the time to give us a tour of the Capitol (it was great) and finally to Sen. Kehoe for your support of our troops and for providing lunch for us at the Capitol and for picking up the tab for our breakfast at Hy-Vee.

God bless you all.
