The latest in a line of awards came in Monday for the Missouri football team.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Maty Mauk was named the Southeastern Conference’s Freshman Player of the Week, as announced Monday by the league office. The honor is the third of Mauk’s debut season in the Tigers’ lineup as he has been playing in relief of injured senior co-captain James Franklin.

Mauk continued his high level of play in a 48-17 win Saturday at Kentucky, matching a feat only accomplished at Missouri by Chase Daniel. Mauk threw five touchdown passes against the Wildcats to match Daniel’s four five-touchdown games in his career that spanned from 2005-08. Mauk completed 17-of-28 passes for 203 yards and helped sophomore wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham set the school record for touchdown catches in a game with four.

Mauk’s recognition is the 10th SEC honor for a Missouri player this season.

Also on Monday, the league announced the start time for Missouri’s Nov. 23 game at Mississippi.

The Tigers, who are off this week, will kick off against the Rebels at 6:45 p.m., and the game will be televised on ESPN.
