Couple killed in northern Missouri fire

SPICKARD, Mo. (AP) - An elderly couple has died in a fire at their home in northern Missouri.

KTVO reports (http://bit.ly/17mzl7j ) that 79-year-old Bob Darby and his wife, 74-year-old Judy Darby, died Thursday in the fire at their home in Spickard.

Officials say the cause of the fire is under investigation. The home was destroyed.

Grundy County Coroner Dewayne Slater says preliminary autopsy results show the couple apparently died of smoke inhalation.

Spickard is a town of about 250 residents located about 100 miles northeast of Kansas City.
