Missouri Valley Big Brothers Big Sisters is hosting its sixth annual chili cook-off from 5-7:30 p.m. Thursday in front of Prison Brews, 305 Ash St. in Jefferson City.
Eighteen local businesses will be cooking chili as they compete for the People's Choice Award. Live entertainment will be provided.
Adult tickets are $10 per person for those 12 and older. Children's tickets are $5. Tickets can be purchased by calling Missouri Valley Big Brothers Big Sisters at 573-634-3290.
Proceeds from the chili cook-off will be used to support the costs of enrolling, screening and matching children in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. Missouri Valley Big Brothers Big Sisters serves more than 250 children a year and has 120 active matches. There are close to 40 kids still waiting for a Big Brother or a Big Sister in our community.
