Benefit to raise funds for baby's medical expenses

Milleigh's Miracles is hosting a benefit from 6-11:30 p.m. today at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Holts Summit.

Milleigh, who was born May 3, was rushed to the hospital Aug. 10 when her parents Jennifer and Ben Turner found her not breathing in her crib. Jennifer was able to resuscitate her, but then the child suffered seizures while at the hospital, which affected her brain.

The doctors diagnosed Milleigh with interrupted sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), and her brain injuries and seizure activity are due to the lack of oxygen.

Today's benefit is meant to raise money for Milleigh's treatment.

There will be a chili dinner, a dance, a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle drawing.

Tickets are $10 at the door for people 12 and older, $5 for ages 6-11 and admission for 5 years and younger is free.
