Your Opinion: Transit facilitator not necessary
Friday, May 31, 2013
Jefferson City Council member Bob Scrivner, who serves on the Public Works Committee, wants to pay a facilitator to referee people who are for and people who are against transit with the goal of developing a vision for Jefftran.
That pay would amount to half of the amount the city proposed to cut from the public transit budget just a couple of months ago. He wants to find out who the typical transit rider is, as if there is one.
Transit riders are quite diverse, and what difference does that make? A previous council squandered six figures on a survey and failed to implement its recommendations. Does every council have to start over at square one, which is “Throw Money We Don’t Have at it in a Way that Doesn’t Serve the Populace?”
That money would be put to better use by hiring a marketing director to promote Jefftran.
