Dancers Alley celebrating 25th anniversary

Dancers Alley is gearing up for its spring recital, "Can't Stop the Beat."

About 250 dancers from the local studio will put on three shows Saturday at the Miller Performing Arts Center, with different dancers in each show.

Owner and ballet director Katy Howland said the recital will feature a wide variety of dance genres from ballet and jazz to hip-hop and contemporary. She said the recital's title comes from the big opening number from the musical "Hairspray."

"That involves 34 dancers on stage," Howland said. "At the end of this semester we start celebrating our 25th year in business, so we're already gearing up for that. We can't stop the beat, we just keep going."

The recital will be at 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday at the Miller Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $10 at the door.
