Saturday, May 25, 2013
Ameren Missouri is warning its customers to be alert for phone calls from scam artists who threaten disconnection of electric service unless a payment is made immediately.
According to company officials, one customer said she received a call at her business. She said the caller said her account was delinquent and she had to pay immediately over the phone. She became suspicious and hung up.
If someone calls who claims they represent Ameren Missouri and they use intimidation to press for payment, company officials urge customers to hang up and call Ameren at 800-552-7583.
