MU hosting Washington in series starting Thursday

The Missouri Tiger softball team is back in a familiar position at a familiar place.

For the fourth straight season, the Tigers will host an NCAA Division I Super Regional as sixth-seeded Missouri faces 11th-seeded Washington in a best-of-three series starting Thursday.

It's the sixth consecutive Super Regional appearance for Missouri (38-12), joining Alabama and Arizona State as the longest current streaks. Missouri was 3-1 to capture its regional.

It will be the fifth straight Super Regional appearance for Washington (41-15), who went 3-0 to win its own regional.

The first game of the series is slated for an 8 p.m. start Thursday (ESPN-TV). Friday's action, with contests slated for 5 and 8 p.m., will be on ESPNU.

The Missouri-Washington winner will advance to the NCAA Softball World Series, scheduled for May 30-June 4 in Oklahoma City.
