Board to accept bids for final phase of track project

RUSSELLVILLE, Mo. - The fifth and final phase of the Cole County R-1 Schools track complex should be open for bids soon.

At its regular meeting Thursday, the Board of Education agreed to hire an architect to prepare a drawing and documents to bid the construction of the concessions/restrooms/storage building.

The plan is to have the building in place by the next track season.

Following a closed session, the board accepted letters of retirement from Donna O'Neal and Kenyon Maier, and a letter of resignation from Becky Schulte.

The board hired Suzanne Lackman as special services teacher, Taylor Chandler as K-8 vocal music teacher and Shawn Smith as assistant middle school boys' basketball coach.

In other business, the board:

• Approved a 5-cent increase in meal prices for the 2013-14 school year.

• Declared Bus No. 4 to be sold as surplus property.

• Awarded the bid to install a partition wall with double doors in the elementary school to Brady's Glass.
