Two arrested for early morning business burglary in JC

Two Jefferson City men were arrested early Tuesday morning after breaking into a business on Missouri Boulevard.

Police reports show Michael J. Taylor, 18, was taken in for minor in possession, second-degree property damage and second-degree burglary.

Ishmel E. M. Martin, 17, was taken in for minor in possession and second-degree burglary.

The incident occurred at 4:40 a.m. when burglary alarms went off at We Be Smokin', 2106 Missouri Boulevard.

When officers arrived, they located a male subject exiting the front door of the business with his face covered and his clothing dirty and in disarray.

The suspect was taken into custody by officers, who found several items of merchandise on his person.

As officers searched in and around the building, a second male suspect was located outside of the building.

Officers were able to determine that the suspects entered through the roof of the business and then exit with merchandise from the business.

Taylor and Martin were taken to the Cole County Jail awaiting the filing of formal charges.
