An inmate at the Jefferson City Correctional Center has been charged with sexually assaulting another inmate.
According to court documents, Donald Sperling, 43, is charged with forcible sodomy.
The victim told authorities that the assault occurred in a cell the two shared on Christmas Eve 2011.
Since the incident, four different inmates were identified by the victim as witnesses to overhearing Sperling admit to the assault and have provided oral and written statements to investigators.
The News Tribune’s policy is to not name a sexual assualt victim.
However, according to state Corrections Department records, the victim is 36, and was 35 when the assault reportedly happened.
He is serving seven consecutive life sentences for seven counts of forcible sodomy, with a weapon.
Corrections records show that Sperling is serving two 25-year sentences, at the same time, for first-degree domestic assault, causing serious injury, and armed criminal action.
A Taney County jury convicted him of assaulting a woman and stabbing her during the assault, which occurred on June 25, 2005.
