Missouri posts 8-0 win against Arkansas

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Missouri Tigers used a walkoff double from Emily Crane to end Thursday's 8-0, five-inning win over Arkansas in the opening round of the Southeastern Conference Softball Tournament.

The Tigers (34-10) scored two runs in the first inning, three in the third and then ended it with three more in the fifth.

Crane's game-ending hit followed a two-run home run by Kelsea Roth earlier in the fifth, as Roth ended up with one hit and three RBI.

Mackenzie Sykes led the offense by going 3-for-3 - with a single, double and triple - and three RBI. Crane had two hits and one RBI, Jenna Marston had two hits and Nicole Hudson drove in a run.

That was more than enough support for Chelsea Thomas, who twirled a two-hitter. Thomas improved to 21-4 on the season by striking out five and walking just one.

Missouri, the third seed in the event, advances to play either second-seeded Tennessee at 2:30 p.m. today in the semifinals. Tennessee blanked South Carolina 5-0 in its quarterfinal contest Thursday night.

Missouri took two out of three games in a series with Tennessee last weekend in Columbia.
