Dear Editor:
I read with great interest the editor's opinion about the City Council debacle over $5,000 being added back in to the Salute to America fund. Not all council members knew about it, and or chose to ignore it.
With egg all over their faces and two black eyes over the unknowing budget shortfall, you would think more care would be taken with taxpayer's money.
But, oh no, some council members think (or don't think) the money could be better spent (or saved) on something else. Underhandedness creates mistrust and distrust.
And they wonder why no tax can be passed,
Anything with council, board, chamber or commission attached to it gives pause to question. For myself, I like to be straightforward and to the point. The powers "that be" do not get this.
Maybe, just maybe all the aforementioned entities, need to refer to the Character Plus Program - mainly accountability. Think about it.
