JC man arrested for burglary

Updates story with charges:

A Jefferson City man has been charged in connection with a burglary case on Monday.

Eric Brown, 46, was charged with second-degree burglary and possession of burglary tools.

The incident occurred at about 5 p.m. after officers responded to the 400 block of East Capitol for a burglary in progress call.

When officers arrived, they found Brown and a female walking out of the residence.

Brown was holding a hacksaw and tire tool. Both subjects were detained and questioned at the scene.

According to the female, Brown convinced her to help him move some things out of the residence and that he had permission to be there.

After an investigation and with little cooperation from Brown, he was arrested.

The female was cooperative with officers and was not arrested.

Brown was transported to the Cole County Jail.

Detectives were investigating whether Brown could be tied into other recent burglaries.

At about 5 p.m. Monday, Jefferson City police responded to the 400 block of East Capitol for a burglary in progress call.

When officers arrived, they found two persons, a male and female, walking out of the residence in question.

The male was holding a hacksaw and tire tool, and both subjects were detained and questioned at the scene.

According to the female, the male convinced her to help him move some things out of the residence and that he had permission to be there. After an investigation and with little cooperation from the male subject, he was arrested on charges of burglary and possession of burglary Tools

The female was cooperative with officers and she was not arrested.

The suspect, Eric W. Brown, 46, Jefferson City, was transported to the Cole County Jail pending the filing of formal charges.

Detectives responded to the scene and the investigation into this incident and other possible burglaries is continuing.
