Chelsea Thomas earns fifth SEC honor

COLUMBIA — You can add No. 5 to the list.

Missouri senior Chelsea Thomas was named the Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Week for the fifth time this season, it was announced Monday.

It’s just the second time in SEC history a pitcher has earned the award five times in a season. Tennessee ace Monica Abbott accomplished the feat in 2005.

A complete-game no-hitter Saturday against the second-ranked Volunteers highlighted Thomas’ week.

Thomas is now 20-4 on the season and leads the SEC with 13 conference wins.
