Silver Dollar City offering several new attractions this summer

Silver Dollar City in Branson has something for the entire family, whether you like amusement rides, swimming, shows, concerts or roughing it in the great outdoors.

This summer, the Branson park is offering several new attractions to its guests, one of them being the new Outlaw Run wooden roller coaster at the Silver Dollar City amusement park.

The $10 million coaster, which opened to the public March 15, has been dubbed "the world's most daring wood coaster" with the world's steepest drop for a wood coaster. It is also the world's fastest wood coaster on steel wheels and the only wood coaster to twist upside down.

Silver Dollar City's White Water park is featuring concerts and dance parties throughout the park's season, May 18-Sept. 2. White Water includes 13 acres of tropical attractions, with more than a dozen water rides and attractions.

The park has added a new 10-foot screen above the 500,000-gallon Surf's Up Wave Pool that will display a countdown to the waves as well as will show "dive-in" movies on Thursday nights during Night Water, an event from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Thursday's through Saturdays July 4-Aug. 10 and Saturdays Aug. 17-31.

White Water also has expanded picnic areas and additional umbrellas poolside and is offering birthday party packages and junior life guard classes in June.

The park is open May 18-19, then daily from May 25-Aug. 11 and on select days Aug. 13-Sept. 2.

Silver Dollar City's Showboat Branson Belle, a dinner cruise, is presenting the show "Made in the USA" as it cruises Table Rock Lake in Branson now through Dec. 31. The show and three-course dinner features the world's only violin-playing aerialist, Janice Martin, as well as the vocal group ShowMen.

In late May, a second "Made in the USA" show will be presented on noon and Sunday cruises, featuring pianist Julie McClarey, fiddler Dean Church and female quartet The ShowBelles.

Bluegrass Cruises will be presented May 24-26 at noon.

Silver Dollar City is also hosting several festivals this season, including Bluegrass & BBQ, May 9-27; National Kidsfest, June 8-July 21; Moonlight Madness, July 20-Aug. 4; Southern Gospel Picnic Aug. 23-Sept. 2; National Harvest Festival, Sept. 12- Oct. 26; and An Old Time Christmas, Nov. 2-Dec. 30.
