The Jefferson City Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the Heart of Missouri Corvette Club have been working together to bring about the Capital City Corvette Classic.

"When I first started in 2011 with the CVB it became clear there are a lot of Corvette owners in the area that travel to different shows and states and it was also clear that Jefferson City has elements to be conducive to host our own show," said CVB Sports/Film Sales Manager Chris Wilson. "We're expecting to see 50-75 Corvettes."

The events start Friday, with registration at the pavilion at Ellis Porter Park from 8-10 a.m. Those registering will get information on scenic routes in their registration packs to get them out and about during the day.

That evening there will be a meet and greet barbecue at Memorial Park from 6-9 p.m. and registrations will still be available at that time.

Following the barbecue, there will be a late night cruise in well lit areas of town from 10-11 p.m.

Then on Saturday, set-up for the main show will take place from at from 9 a.m. to noon on the south circle drive of the capitol.

The show will take place from 12-4 p.m.

In each class, from C-1 to C-6, first- through third-place plaques will be given.

An overall mayor's cup trophy and a best of snow trophy will also be given.

Following the show, a final cruise will be held from 5-7 p.m. at Capital Mall.

"It's a beautiful, good looking automobile," Wilson said. "You look at the different classes and each one has its own little flavor and character. There's a lot more Corvette owners than I realized. It's a car to be proud of."
