Owls split doubleheader with HLG

HANNIBAL, Mo. — The William Woods Owls split a doubleheader with Hannibal-LaGrange on Friday, dropping the first game 2-1 in 11 innings before winning the nightcap 5-1.

MacKenzie Bowden (Jefferson City High School) was the tough-luck loser in the circle during the opener, as she threw a complete game. She gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits while walking one and striking out 16.

In the second game, Shelby LeCuru (Helias High School) rapped out three hits and drove in a run for William Woods.

The Owls (7-9 overall, 1-3 American Midwest Conference) will host Columbia College in a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
