Cougars drop two against top-ranked team

IRVINE, Calif. - The nation's top-ranked team was too much to overcome Friday.

The Columbia College Cougars dropped both halves of a doubleheader with Concordia (Calif.), the No.1 NAIA team.

The Cougars dropped the opener 8-0 in a game shortened to five innings due to the run rule. Kristin Eiken (Blair Oaks High School) had the only hit for the Cougars.

Taylor Richter (Blair Oaks High School) took the loss in the circle, giving up six runs (two earned) on six hits in two innings. Tiffany Urwiler (School of the Osage High School) finished up for the Cougars.

Columbia College then lost 9-1 in six innings in the nightcap. Eiken had one of the Cougars' two hits and scored the team's only run, while Whitni Howell (Jefferson City High School) had the other hit.

The Cougars are now 5-10 on the season. They will return to action Tuesday with a 2 p.m. doubleheader at William Woods.
