Historic preservation panel tabs award nominees

The Jefferson City Historic Preservation Commission has selected the 2013 Landmark and Greg Stockard award nominees.

The nominations were made to complete the necessary protocols and submit the ordinances to the City Council.

Central East Side property owners Donna Deetz and Connie and Darryl Hubble will be named the lifetime achievement award recipients in recognition of their revitalization efforts along East High Street.

Commissioner Carlos Graham said he hoped by bringing awareness to these projects, other property owners might be encouraged to rehabilitate their historic properties, too.

The three homes to be designated as city Landmarks are 115 W. Atchison St., owned by Laura Ward; 718 E. Capitol Ave., owned by Cathy Bordner; and 728 W. Main St., owned by the Conservation Federation of Missouri.

The honorees will be recognized at a ceremony in May, held in conjunction with the Historic City of Jefferson's essay, art and multi-media contests.

In other business, the commission signed off on a Section 106 review, required for 601 Mulberry St., and released the demolition application for 1323 Karen Drive.
