Helias girls top Quincy Notre Dame

QUINCY, Ill. — The Helias Lady Crusaders had five different players score while beating Quincy Notre Dame, the two-time defending Illinois state champions, by a 6-5 score Thursday.

Tiffany Weaver had a pair of goals for the winners, while Taylor Hagenhoff, Jordan Poire, Kaysie Scheuler and Kendall Smith had one each.

Liz Czarnecki got the win in goal for the Lady Crusaders, who improved to 1-1.

In the JV game, Helias dropped a 1-0 decision to fall to 1-1 on the year.

Helias returns to action Monday at home against Class 2 defending state champion St. Dominic. Junior varsity action will start at 5 p.m., with the varsity to follow around 6:45 p.m.
