Nixon chief of staff has stroke

Full recovery expected

John Watson, 53 - Gov. Jay Nixon's chief of staff - was hospitalized over the weekend after a mild stroke.

Scott Holste, Nixon's spokesman, said this afternoon that Watson was undergoing additional tests and is expected to make a full recovery.

During his absence, many of his duties will be performed by Policy Director Jeff Harris, Deputy Chief of Staff Peter Lyskowski and other senior staff members.
