The United Way of Central Missouri is offering grants to area agencies. The chapter’s board of directors approved up to $75,000 for one-time grants in 2013.

Grants are available to non-profit agencies in the United Way of Central Missouri service area that have been in business at least two years. The agencies must further the mission of the United Way to help local people in need, provide community solutions and address a need in the area of food, shelter, education, employment, health or transportation. Grants must have measurable outcomes and serve communities in part or all of Cole, Moniteau, Osage, Miller or southern Callaway counties.

Grant funds may be used as matching dollars, but cannot be used in capital campaigns.

Dan Westhues, United Way of Central Missouri board chairman, said the Jefferson City Area YMCA’s generous gift of the Alameda building, in addition to a successful 2012 campaign, are making it possible for the United Way to put additional funds back into the community to serve those who are most vulnerable.

For a complete list of grant criteria or for an application, contact Ann Bax at 636-4100 or ann.bax@unitedwaycemo.org. All applications must be returned by April 18 for review. The funds will be released in late May.
