Jays bounce Waynesville in baseball

WAYNESVILLE, Mo. - The Jefferson City Jays rallied from a 5-1 deficit after one inning to rip the Waynesville Tigers 10-5 in baseball action Tuesday.

After the Jays got a run in the top of the first, they gave up five unearned runs in the bottom of the frame.

Jefferson City then started the comeback with one run in the second and third innings and followed it up with four in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the seventh.

Sam Atkinson led the Jays on offense with a single, double and three RBI. Hayden Stroebel had two hits and scored three runs, while Brenden Ogeltree rapped out a pair of hits.

Bret Jaegers got the win, working the first six innings. He gave up five unearned runs on seven hits while striking out three.

Cameron Carroll pitched the final frame and struck out one.

The Jays were originally scheduled to return to action Thursday at Centralia. That game has been postponed until April 22.

Jefferson City will now play a pair of games Sunday in Fort Pierce, Fla.
