Prep Baseball: New Haven 2, Calvary Lutheran 0

NEW HAVEN, Mo. - The pitching was there, the hitting was not.

Calvary Lutheran fell 2-0 to New Haven in the Lions' season opener Friday.

New Haven's Austin Madden, a Class 1 second-team all-state performer last season, struck out 13 Calvary Lutheran batters and allowed just one hit, a double to Caleb Propst.

Wyatt Archer, Propst and Beau Monson all pitched for the Lions, allowing one earned run on five hits.

New Haven tallied two runs in the first inning to cap the scoring early on.

Calvary (0-1) hosts Father Tolton on Tuesday.
