Open burning season ending

The Jefferson City Fire Department reminds residents inside the city limits that burning season will end after Friday.

Burning of yard waste is permitted and must be done during the daylight hours only.

Fires must be attended at all times and burning on city streets, sidewalks and storm drains is prohibited.

The department recommends residents use the compost facility on Southridge Drive to dispose of yard waste. The service is free to city residents.

The burning season will open again Nov. 15.
