Your Opinion: Voter ID political, not patriotic

Dear Editor:

In response to claiming Missouri's new voter ID Iaw to be patriotic I would say is a crude overstatement.

According to the Tampa Bay Times there are more cases of shark attacks annually than cases of voter fraud. The few number of voter fraud cases even on a national level would hardly be enough to sway an election.

With several states passing new restrictions on early voting, absentee ballots and voter ID, one is left to wonder if mostly Republican lawmakers are pushing this forward for love of party rather than love of country.

I'm sure most of us have seen the video of Republican Mike Turzai proclaiming that Pennsylvania's new voter ID law would win Romney the election. So why pass a law that could prevent thousands from voting to prevent maybe 10 cases of fraud?

In my opinion new voter ID laws are about as patriotic as gerrymandering voting districts!
