Your Opinion: Let's agree to disagree

Dear Editor:

I will make this brief.

Differences of opinion will always exist, and writing letters back and forth about a particular issue doesn't really accomplish a great deal. Most people feel strongly about an issue and they don't move too far from that position.

I did want to clear up some errors in reporting, however. Betty Markway's reference to my letter on preventing crimes included her words, "I didn't understand why she (Donna) believes that removing the option of banning large magazine clips would not be an option for deterring more deaths." Sorry - but there was no mention in my letter about magazine clips.

Until a couple of years ago, I didn't even know what magazine clips were! It must have been another person's letter she had read.

And Cal Winter's letter in rebuttal to mine on hunting included his words, "Nearly all of the venison given to food pantries ends up in the dog dish or the trash ... and anyone who kills enough deer to "live off the land is headed for jail."

What the heck? Does he have private investigators who follow those who take home food from the pantries to see whether it ends up in the stomach or the trash? And headed to jail? There is such a thing as "farm tags." Let's just agree to disagree.
