Oklahoma man convicted in Missouri abduction trial

PINEVILLE, Mo. (AP) - A 33-year-old Oklahoma man has been convicted of abducting and assaulting two women from southwest Missouri.

The Joplin Globe reports (http://bit.ly/ZptsMs ) that Johnny Davis Jr., of Nowata, Okla., was found guilty Friday in Pineville of two counts of first-degree assault and two counts of kidnapping.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for May 1.

Davis was accused of abducting the two women from southwest Missouri on Dec. 26, 2011, and taking them to Oklahoma, where they said he assaulted them.

He was convicted in Craig County, Okla., in 1999 of rape and served 11 years of a 30-year sentence before being released in 2010.
