Crane tops New Haven for girls Class 2 title

COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Maggie McMenamy scored 13 points and Riley Israel added 12, helping lift Crane past New Haven 55-45 in the Class 2 Girls Championship on Saturday.

Allie Hagler's free throws with 1:22 remaining capped a 15-3 run over 6:08 to put the Lady Pirates (30-3) ahead 52-42 - their biggest lead of the day - while New Haven scored only seven points in the final quarter after leading 39-37 with 7:30 left.

Rachel Steinhoff had 26 points for the Shamrocks (21-11), who finished runners-up for the second consecutive year despite shooting 15-of-29 from the field. New Haven missed six of their 10 shots from the field in the second half.

The title was the first in school history for Crane, which outscored New Haven 18-3 in points off of turnovers.
