Owls take two

CLAREMORE, Okla. — The William Woods Owls picked up the first wins of the season while sweeping a doubleheader with Midland (Neb.) University on Sunday.

In the opening game of the twinbill, William Woods posted a 3-2 victory.

MacKenzie Bowden (Jefferson City High School) got the win for the Owls, throwing a six-hitter and striking out 10. Only one of the two runs was earned.

In the second game, William Woods pounded out 18 hits in a 10-2 rout shortened to six innings because of the run rule.

Shelby LeCuru (Helias High School) had two hits and one RBI for the Owls, while Lindsey LeCuru (Helias High School) chipped in with two hits.

The Owls are now 2-4 on the season.
