FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Mo. - Two more games, two more wins for the Jefferson City American Legion Post 5 Seniors.
Post 5 won its first two games Saturday in the Fairview Heights Round Robin Tournament, beating Collinsville and Fairview Heights.
Post 5 opened the day with the 2-1 victory against Collinsville, paced by RBI from Connor Hager and Daniel Castillo.
Post 5 went on top 1-0 in the bottom of the first on a leadoff triple from Dylan Brauner and a run-scoring single from Hager.
After Collinsville tied it in the third, Post 5 won it in the sixth.
Patrick Schnieders stroked a one-out double, stole third and scored on Castillo's groundout to the shortstop.
Brauner and Schnieders both went 2-for-3.
Collin Brinker picked up the win, tossing 12â„3 innings of flawless relief, striking out five. Seth Lehmen got the start, going 51â„3 innings and allowing one run on six hits with five strikeouts.
Post 5 then finished Saturday with the 5-3 victory against Fairview Heights.
Brauner and Schnieders both went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the opener, while Castillo went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Levi Rose picked up the win, tossing two perfect innings of relief with a strikeout. Cole Distler started on the hill, giving up three runs on five hits in four innings of work. Brinker got the save by working a perfect seventh with a strikeout.
Post 5 went up 2-0 before Fairview Heights scored three in the third to take the lead. Brauner tied it with an RBI single in the sixth and Distler drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly a batter later.
Schnieders and Castillo strung together consecutive doubles in the seventh to tack on an insurance run.
Post 5 (23-1) continues round-robin play today with games against Alton and Lemay.
