Your Opinion: Misusing Constitution to advance agenda

Dear Editor:

There has been controversy concerning the interruption of freedom of religion in the First Amendment in 1791, as it relates to 21st century progressive reform.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." 1719

The writers or forefathers of our Constitution did not live in this age of cyberpunk; a future filled with violence, computers and drugs. The melting pot has become an angry buffet. Hope and imagination have been replaced with hostility, hate and dislike.

Religion becomes the target of public indignation. Progressives use twisted versions of history and religion to bolster their power and help divide America.

The government will use Common Core as the instrument of indoctrination.

"Today we are not One Nation under God," Rabbi Daniel Lapin.

Meaning and interpretation of the Constitution has changed. It rests on party lines and not on our beliefs and values.

It is about the will of the people and the direction our country is going.

The writers of our Constitution intended that the separation of church and state mean, "that the government can't establish a religion or prevent anyone from worshiping or establishing their own religion."

The progressives are using the separation of church and state to advance their own agenda.

Rather than cracking down on the Muslim extremists the progressives have sought to silence our most honored multicultural traditions that made our country great, such as the public display of nativity scenes on courthouse lawns or the Ten Commandments inside courthouses.

"I don't have any problem if Christian symbols are put on courthouse lawns as long as religion does not force their ideas," Thomas Jefferson.

Unbeknownst to most Americans, Muslims invented the mathematical system called algebra. Should that be silenced in the name of progressivism.

Saying prayers at an event doesn't make it a church service.

Armed forces chaplains and officers are threatened with court martial if they pray or counsel soldiers, including displaying Bibles on their desk.

Frankly, I don't want the federal government to have the intolerance and the legality to gradually isolate and destroy our freedom of religion, including the honoring of our multicultural traditions and leave us with only with our thoughts and our voice.
