A Jefferson City man is facing several charges in connection with a disturbance that ended up with the man hitting the Red Cross offices on East McCarty Street with a vehicle early Monday morning.
Court records show Patrick Love, 25, 818 Lee Drive, is charged with first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, two counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, third-degree assault, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident and second-degree property damage.
Police reports show this began as a disturbance at 12:25 a.m. Monday morning.
Officers became aware of the disturbance and accident when the victim walked up to the police station from the site of the crash.
The victim stated she was assaulted by the suspect inside her vehicle and during the course of her attempted escape the car struck a parked car and the building.
Love fled the scene, but was apprehended a short time later in the 100 Block of Marshall Street.
Love was driving the vehicle which was occupied by the victim and her two infant children when he hit the building.
Representatives of the Red Cross responded to the scene and secured the building. Initial estimates of the damage are expected to exceed $10,000.
