Four detained in JC shots fired case

Four suspects are being detained and awaiting possible charges after several gunshots were fired in the 1100 block of East Dunklin Street at about 12:44 p.m. Monday.

No one was injured.

Calls to police said several gunshots were heard, and several subjects were seen running from the area. A passing motorist was able to provide communications and responding officers with descriptions of the suspect holding the handgun.

Officers responded and detained multiple subjects. They took four into custody. A 21-year-old was taken into custody for obstructing an ongoing investigation and resisting arrest. A 16-year-old juvenile was taken into custody for unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest.

During the investigation, information was obtained that led authorities to the 600 block of Chestnut Street. Officers searched a home and took the other two suspects into custody: a 21-year-old and a 23-year-old, both of Jefferson City and both arrested for second-degree burglary, obstructing police and resisting arrest.

Officers recovered two firearms. Further charges are possible.
