Longtime Mexican restaurant closes

After 25 years, Santa Cruz Mexican Restaurant, located at 242 Jaycee Drive, has closed its doors. The restaurant announced its closure on its Facebook page on Saturday, June 15, thanking customers for their patronage.

“We have been blessed by your loyal patronage for 25 years! Our time has come to close, but we thank you for the great memories,” the post read.

Owners Michael and Jennie Vogt officially closed the restaurant last weekend, with its last night of full service June 14. The bar and a limited menu was offered on June 15, “serving what little food we have left,” a later post noted.

The restaurant was contacted by the News Tribune on June 14 and chose not to comment on rumors they might be closing.
