Post 5 Seniors improve to 19-0

WASHINGTON - Continuing to steamroll through their schedule, the Jefferson City American Legion Post 5 Seniors won another game Saturday.

This time, it was a 4-1 win over Zumwalt West in the the Washington Wood Bat Showcase, as Post 5 improved to 19-0.

West scored a single run in the bottom of the second, and the lead stayed 1-0 until Post 5 broke through with three runs in the top of the fifth. A run in the seventh provided the final margin.

Dylan Brauner and Cole Distler, the Nos. 1 and 2 batters in the Post 5 lineup, each went 2-for-4 with one RBI to pace the offense. Trevor Schnieders chipped in with one hit and two RBI.

Schnieders was also the winning pitcher, as he worked the first five innings. He allowed one earned run on four hits while walking eight and striking out one.

Collin Brinker got the save, giving up just one hit and one walk while striking out three in the final two innings.

The win moved Post 5 to 4-0 in pool play at the event, clinching the Pool A crown. The three pool winners and one wildcard team advance to Sunday's semifinals.
