WASHINGTON - The Jefferson City American Legion Post 5 Seniors just won't lose.
Post 5 improved its already gaudy record to 17-0 by defeating Eureka and Ballwin on Thursday to open up the Washington Wood Bat Showcase.
Post 5 opened with a 7-3 victory against Eureka.
Patrick Schnieders picked up the win by going 51â„3 innigns and allowing one run on three hits with six strikeouts.
Dylan Brauner was a perfect 3-for-3 with an RBI, Daniel Castillo went 3-for-4 with an RBI and Cole Distler and Trevor Schnieders both collected two RBI.
Post 5 then took down Ballwin 3-2 in walk-off fashion.
Tied at 2 entering the bottom of the seventh, Brauner led off with a single, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Distler and scored when Trevor Schnieders doubled to center.
Post 5 had taken a 2-0 lead in the third before Ballwin tied the game in the fourth.
Collin Brinker was the winner, tossing 31â„3 innings of scoreless relief. He struck out five and allowed one hit. Jacob Koelling started, pitching 32â„3 innings and allowing two runs on two hits and three walks with eight strikeouts.
Post 5 continues tournament play with a game against House Springs at noon today at Ronsick Field in Washington.
