BizBeat: New auto dealership coming soon

Corwin Automotive Group is on track to build a new car dealership in Jefferson City less than a mile down the road from its current Honda, Hyundai and Nissan locations.

General Manager Pat Kittle said the Planning and Zoning Commission approved Corwin's rezoning request at the Thursday night meeting. The 3625 Missouri Boulevard lot will change from C-1 Neighborhood Commercial to PUD Planned Unit Development. The zoning request noted that the dealership will consist of a 31,100-square-foot building with full vehicle service department, a 4,250-square-foot detail shop and a vehicle display lot.

"Everything is good to go for the next stage," Kittle said.

Once the Building Commission has made final approval, the local dealership will begin the building process. Kittle said the dealership does plan to purchase the property from current owner Andrew Lear. The new lot will provide more space and a chance to move the Honda business to its own location.

Although Corwin isn't sure when customers can expect a grand opening, everything is moving forward as planned. "We're just excited," Kittle noted.
