Man charged with burglarizing Marine Corps League

A Jefferson City man has been charged with breaking into the U.S. Marine Corps League building in Apache Flats.

Robert Vaughn Jr., 22, of 127 Wagonwheel Road, is charged with second-degree burglary and resisting arrest.

Court documents show the break-in occurred at 4:14 a.m., Thursday.

A Cole County Sheriff's Department probable cause statement shows Vaughn was seen walking from the rear of the business with several shirts with Marine logos on them.

When a deputy told him to stop, he fled on foot, but fell down and was taken into custody.

Vaughn said he had used a large rock to break a side window to get in.

He said he was looking for guns to steal.
