Mo. House interim committee to review agencies

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - A special committee in the Missouri House will spend the next several months reviewing the performance of state agencies.

The House Interim Committee on Government Responsiveness and Efficiency was created by Speaker Tim Jones. The panel will meet during the summer and fall before lawmakers return in January for their next legislative session.

Jones says he wants the committee to complete a thorough review of how state government agencies function and to look for ways to improve the service provided to taxpayers.

Republican Sue Allen, of St. Louis, will chair the panel and says she plans to start with the Department of Social Services.
